Product Spotlight: Amatller Chocolates
We are pleased to feature these exciting products from Amatller, one of Spain's oldest and most reputable chocolatiers. Since 1797, Amatller has been crafting chocolate with an emphasis on purity, tradition, art, and flavor. Around the turn of the century, Amatller took their craft so seriously that they began to craft their world around chocolate, they even commissioned new paintings to celebrate their chocolates. Rafael de Penagos and Alphonse Mucha created works of art that now adorn these fantastic confectionaries. The 'Casa Amaller' was also built, and can be visited next to Gaudí's Casa Batllò in Barcelona. Due to their mastery of the chocolate making craft, Amatller was renowned as one of the world's elites. Unfortunately, the company fell on hard times during the turmoil surrounding the Spanish Civil War, and soon their reputation began to dissipate. Their chocolate became virtually unknown outside of Barcelona. Fortunately for us, some ambitious chocolatiers have reinvested in the legend of Amatller chocolates. Made according to the same recipes as always, these decadent sweets are sure to reclaim their place in history.
